Drive the back roads among the farm fields of Southern Illinois during the months of July and August. Among the dust covered weeds that line the road ditches you will find these stunningly beautiful wild hibiscus flowers everywhere. They come in a variety of shades from very soft pastel pink, to some with a slight bluish cast to those that are brilliant white. They are indeed gorgeous as well as delicate. It doesn't take long for the wind and weather to damage this lily among the thorns.
