I painted this at The Festival of Flowers paint out in Nashville, IN. The event is hosted by the T.C. Steele State Historic Site.
I set up outside of Madeline's, a quaint store on the main road in Nashville, IN. The yard surrounding her store is absolutely beautiful. Well manicured flower gardens surround it.

My grandson Henry is a very photogenic young man. I love taking photos of him; always looking for that "special" picture that will make a great painting. This one was taken when he was about 7 months old. The backdrop were some yellow 1950's suitcases. I manipulated the colors away from reality. I was after a loose, impressionistic background. I wanted to make sure the the blues on the cool side came through. This was one of the more challenging painting I've done.

I painted this companion to Ice Follies Tulip at a workshop in Chester, IL as my demo for the students. I love the colors in these flowers. Until recently I had never seen them.

I love this painting. It has what I think is a loose, traditional watercolor feel that I've been striving to achieve. This is the second painting I've done of this beautiful old wall. It is loaded with character and represents a time gone by.
