I think this painting represents a voyage into uncharted territory for me. My natural inclination is to wrap the extreme darks all around the apples. I would have done this, however, as I laid in the darks I saw these marvelous reds and scarlets cutting a path through the deep blues. My concern was if I continued working below the apples I'd not only lose the beautiful flow that had developed, but I'd probaby turn it to mud. I took the gamble and let it dry.
